The China National Innovation Center for Intelligent Connected Vehicles in Huangpu District, Guangzhou, is a key project within the Yuzhu area's digital economy development corridor, part of the Guangzhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Pilot Zone. For the center's exterior, QSTECH supplied a large-format naked-eye 3D LED display built on the Y53 series with an 8 mm pixel pitch.

A 38,000 m² Innovation Hub on the Digital Economy Corridor

With a total construction area of 38,000 square metres, the center is part of the Yuzhu area's digital economy corridor and was developed as one of Huangpu District's major public innovation projects.

For a building positioned as a district landmark, the facade display had to do two jobs: meet the requirements of continuous outdoor operation, and carry naked-eye 3D content strong enough to give the center a recognizable public identity.

The Naked-Eye 3D Display Solution

QSTECH supplied the center's naked-eye 3D LED display solution. The installation uses the Y53 series outdoor LED display at 8 mm pixel pitch. Published project coverage reports a display area of approximately 1,300 square metres.

Naked-eye 3D content depends on precise alignment between the creative video and the physical screen geometry. The Y53 platform supports this style of facade application with standard 960 × 960 mm cabinets and, for projects that call for wrapped building corners, can be specified with 90° curved cabinets as part of a corner 3D solution.

Y53 Series Capabilities for Outdoor Facade Applications

The following figures are product capabilities from the Y53 series specification, not project-specific measurements:

  • Brightness: up to 15,000 nits, depending on model and configuration. High-brightness configurations are designed to keep content readable in direct sunlight.

  • Refresh rate and contrast: 3,840 Hz refresh rate and 10,000:1 contrast, designed to reduce visible flicker and scanning artifacts when the display is filmed — relevant for large outdoor displays whose content may be captured by broadcast cameras and mobile phones.

  • Protection: front and rear IP66 protection against rain and dust, with front and rear maintenance access.

  • Structure: 68 mm-thick, 20.5 kg cabinets in a 960 × 960 mm format can reduce display dead load compared with heavier cabinet designs, subject to project-specific structural calculations.

  • Energy: common-cathode power design and chip-level voltage regulation; CVTE laboratory testing reports up to a 31.7% reduction in energy use compared with the previous generation.

  • Maintenance: the rigid-link module design allows module replacement in under 10 seconds and power supply box replacement in about 40 seconds, so on-site module or power-supply swaps are completed in well under a minute.

3D Content and Brand Communication

The screen runs custom naked-eye 3D video produced for the center. Beyond the center's own 3D content, the display can also support corporate, public-interest and public-information content, depending on the operating plan.

Outcome

The display entered operation as part of the center's build-out, giving the building a large-scale outdoor platform for naked-eye 3D content and corporate communication. QSTECH's project coverage presents the installation as part of the center's new public identity in Huangpu District. The available public project materials do not include independent measurements of audience reach, energy use or advertising performance.

About QSTECH

QSTECH is a high-tech enterprise focused on LED display products and solutions, covering outdoor DOOH, sports, commercial, rental and all-in-one display applications. Y53 series performance figures cited in this article are based on CVTE laboratory testing and may vary by model, configuration and operating conditions. For projects that require additional system redundancy, QSTECH outdoor display solutions can be specified with backup power and signal configurations.

FAQ

What is a naked-eye 3D LED display?

A naked-eye 3D LED display is an outdoor LED screen that shows specially produced video content with depth cues matched to the screen's shape and viewing position, so viewers perceive a three-dimensional image without glasses. The effect depends on both the display hardware and custom-made content; the hardware alone does not create it.

Which product and pixel pitch were used at the China National Innovation Center for Intelligent Connected Vehicles?

According to the official QSTECH case page, the center's naked-eye 3D large screen uses the QSTECH Y53 series outdoor LED display with an 8 mm pixel pitch.

What brightness is recommended for an outdoor naked-eye 3D LED facade?

Outdoor facades that must remain readable in direct sunlight are typically specified with high-brightness configurations. The Y53 series offers brightness options up to 15,000 nits depending on model and configuration; the appropriate level for a given project depends on screen orientation, ambient light and local regulations on display brightness.

Can the Y53 series be shaped for corner or curved 3D installations?

Yes. In addition to standard 960 × 960 mm cabinets and compact 480 × 320 mm cabinets, the Y53 series can be specified with 90° curved cabinets for corner-based naked-eye 3D designs and curved facade applications. The cabinet mix is defined per project during the design phase.

What should project owners confirm before selecting an outdoor naked-eye 3D LED display?

Key items to confirm include: the facade's load-bearing capacity and steel structure design; pixel pitch matched to the intended minimum viewing distance; brightness appropriate to site orientation and local rules; content production arrangements, since naked-eye 3D effects require custom video; and the maintenance access plan (front, rear, or both) for the installed location.
